Growing up, I scoured the second-hand bookstores of Charing Cross Road in London for anything about "The Mystery of Easter Island". I became hooked and a burning ambition ignited within me to make the journey, half way around the world, to Easter Island. <div align="right">[ <a href="personal_overview.asp">more</a> ]</div> </td> <td width="10"><!-- Gutter --></td> <td valign="top" width="80"><a href="personal_arrival.asp"><img src="images/easter_island_arrival.gif" width="70" height="70" class="window_frame"></a> </td> <td valign="top" width="285" class="pagebodysmall"><span class="pagebodysmall"><b><a href="personal_arrival.asp">Arrival</a></b></span><br /> The flight to Rapa Nui is long and uneventful, until the computer map that plots the flights course, suddenly changes from a great expanse of ocean to a great expanse of ocean with a small, triangular dot. with no delay, you land quickly, as there this might be the only flight today. There probably won't be a flight tomorrow. <div align="right">[ <a href="personal_arrival.asp">more</a> ]</div> </td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top" width="80"><a href="personal_out_and_about.asp"><img src="images/easter_island_out_and_about.gif" width="70" height="70" class="window_frame"></a> </td> <td valign="top" width="285" class="pagebodysmall"><span class="pagebodysmall"><b><a href="personal_out_and_about.asp">Out & About</a></b></span><br /> If you don't have a huge amount of time, do a tour on your first day and then with any time remaining, rent a bicycle or jeep and visit those places that interested you most. I was on the island for over a week and had the luxury of being able to spend time at each site I wanted to visit. <div align="right">[ <a href="personal_out_and_about.asp">more</a> ]</div> </td> <td width="10"><!-- Gutter --></td> <td valign="top" width="80"><a href="personal_thoughts.asp"><img src="images/easter_island_thoughts.gif" width="70" height="70" class="window_frame"></a> </td> <td valign="top" width="285" class="pagebodysmall"><span class="pagebodysmall"><b><a href="personal_thoughts.asp">Thoughts</a></b></span><br /> Enveloping myself in the texts others have written, spending time with the artifacts of Rapa Nui, spending time exploring the island, I came to many conclusions based on what I saw. I came away with more questions than I arrived with and some opinions that may not be popular. <div align="right">[ <a href="personal_thoughts.asp">more</a> ]</div> </td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top" width="80"><a href="personal_conclusion.asp"><img src="images/easter_island_conclusion.gif" width="70" height="70" class="window_frame"></a> </td> <td valign="top" width="285" class="pagebodysmall"><span class="pagebodysmall"><b><a href="personal_conclusion.asp">Conclusion</a></b></span><br /> If we can answer the simple question of "What were they thinking?" then many of the mysteries of Rapa Nui will be solved. <div align="right">[ <a href="personal_conclusion.asp">more</a> ]</div> </td> <td width="10"><!-- Gutter --></td> <td valign="top" width="80"> </td> <td valign="top" width="285" class="pagebodysmall"> </td> </tr> </table>
